We hope you enjoy visiting our fantastic school website, please leave a comment in our guestbook before you leave! ******Don't forget about tonight's Internet Safety meeting for Key Stage 2 parents. 7;00pm start******

We have a School Council with a pupil representative from each class. Issues are debated, opinions sought and recommendations from the children are put into practice.

Elections for the new School Council representatives take place in September each year.

Last year the School Council concentrated on 'The School Travel Plan', which they worked on with teachers and governors, members of the local community and parent volunteers.  The plan successfully aimed to reduce congestion and increase safety on the school run – with everyone working together to improve the local environment. The School Council conducted traffic surveys at the beginning and the end of the school day and identified as many as 80 cars entering the road adjacent to Barrs Court School in just 5 minutes at the end of the day! School Council also awarded weekly certificates to the Area in school with the most walkers. At the end of the summer term the School Council performed a play and made a leaflet teaching other pupils how important it is to be safe in the sun or 'SUN SMART!'

We have a new School Council 2008/2009. This year the School Council will continue to work on 'The School Travel Plan'. At the moment the School Council are trying to make our pupils safer on their journey to and from school. They organised a special assembly on the theme 'Be Safe, Be Seen' and held a successful sale of bright and fluorescent 'Be Safe, Be Seen' products.  They have also looked at Stephens Drive and decided that parked cars at the beginning and end of the school day make the crossing of the road difficult and unsafe. They were also worried about the speed of cars on our road. They have launched a drawing competition to see who can come up with the best sign to either stop cars parking by our school or ask travelling cars to slow down. All entries will be judged by the School Council in the week beginning the 23rd February.  The winning sign will be made into a metal sign and put up outside our school gates for everyone to see!
