Reception
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
When listening to a piece of music we like to close our eyes and think about how it makes us feel. Sometimes we then paint our feelings.
|
Communication, Language and Literacy
We make story maps to help us learn a story. We record our stories on tape. Sometimes we make up our own stories.
We do guided reading with our teacher every week.
|
We do Breakthrough which helps us learn how to write sentences.
|
Last term we had a visitor from Cadbury Heath Library. She read us lots of stories and brought some great characters to help her tell the story. |
|
|
Mathematical Development
We enjoy talking about numbers and putting them in the right order.
In numeracy we have been sorting shapes. We had to think of different ways to sort. |
Knowledge and Understanding of the World
| |
In groups we planted some cress seeds. We put them in different places around the classroom to see where they grew the best.
After a week we looked at our cress seeds again. We decided that the cress grew best when it was on the windowsill and given water. |
Physical Development
Often we get out our wooden bricks and see what we can build. |
Creative Development
| |
We use instruments to play along with a piece of music.
| |
One of our favourite stories is The Gingerbread Man. We made our own Gingerbread Man glove puppets to help us act out the story.
| |
In the summer term our topic term was 'The Sea'. Here we are making our own Rainbow Fish.
In music we have been finding out about different instruments. Mrs Fox brought in her flute and played it to us. We learnt that it comes from the woodwind family. |
