Personal, social and health education (PSHE) helps to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.

Learning opportunities could happen across and beyond the curriculum, in specific lessons, and in assemblies, circle time, special school projects and other activities and events that enrich pupils' experiences.

Citizenship teaching equips children with the knowledge, understanding and skills to play an active part in society as informed and critical citizens who are socially and morally responsible.

Explicit teaching of Citizenship is through formal planned and timetabled teaching in line with the new Citizenship scheme of work from the QCA. Citizenship teaching also takes place at other times in our school day, such as in R.E. or Humanities.

It underlies our school ethos in that we believe that co-operation is vital to the development of our community and that each individual has a valid part to play - respect for other people's opinions, property and person are essential.

Reception classrooom rules display. At the start of each year, we sit down as a class and decide on our own classroom rules.

Reception display - throughout school we think carefully about belonging to a community, and what that means and how we can work together.

Year 1, Year 2 and Reception had a visit from our local police officers.
