History encourages pupils' curiosity about the past. Historical knowledge, skills and understanding is taught through:
- A chronological understanding of placing events, people and changes in the correct period of time.
- Recognising that the past is represented and interpreted in different ways and why that is.
- Developing the role of historical enquiry using a range of sources of information e.g. artefacts, documents etc.
In History pupils find evidence, assess it and reach conclusions; a skill not just necessary for history, but for life.

Here we are working as archaeologists. We found some interesting artefacts and had to record where we found them.
|
We sorted artefacts using our historical knowledge. |
|
In History we look at artefacts from the past and discuss how we think they were used and what they are.
