At Barrs Court we teach French to all children as part of the normal school curriculum. We believe that the earlier a child is exposed to a foreign language the faster the language in question is aquired.

The children at Barrs Court really enjoy speaking French. Here are some of the things we do:

We play French games.

We use role play.

We write to French children in other schools.

We use puppets and soft toys to make learning fun.

We listen to French songs and read French books.

We invite visitors who are native french speakers into the classroom.

Each year we have a French assistant who teaches small groups throughout the school.

Our new french assistant for 2005/2006 is called Anne-Marie.

Year 6 children have a residental visit to Normandy in the summer term.

Playing games on the lawn.

  Visit to the British cemetry.

We went to the market at Courseulles. Each group had to decide on the food they wanted to buy for their lunch and used their french to buy it.

Visit to Honfleur.

Visit to the goats cheese factory.
