Eco-Team

 

Meet the Eco-Team 2007/2008.

 

The Eco-Team is made up of14 members ranging from reception to Year 6.

 

Our new Eco-Team 2008/2009 have just been elected.

 

Our Eco-Team meet every week and make changes around Barrs Court to help save the environment!

 

 

 

The Eco-Team of 2007/2008 completed audits of our school. These showed us how good or bad we were at helping the environment.

 

They decided to focus first on recycling...

 

 

 

They introduced green 'Sort it' bags into each homebase to encourage more recycling.

 

They made small notes to remind people to recycle. These are on each homebase bin.

 

Both ideas are now working very successfully!

 

 

 

A lady called Mary Lewis came in to run some recycling workshops.

 

She worked with Red, Blue and Green Area children.

 

 

 

Our own special 'Eco-code' is displayed around school to remind people to help us save the world we live in.

Last year Asda invited us to their store in Longwell Green to support their 'Going Green' campaign which aims to reduce the number of plastic bags we use. Here we are posing for photographs!

 

 

At Barrs Court we now compost our food waste. We have reduced the paper we use.
